To make it plain, picture a food critic answering one honest question. Finding a trustworthy answer takes the very same steps we use for a research question — so each step shows the critic's version right beside ours.

Before we read a single study, we post the question and the exact rules for what counts — dated and public — so we can't change them later to fit what we find.

We search the databases that catalogue published research and pull every study on the question — not only the convenient ones.

We remove duplicates, off-topic studies, and ones that break the rules. Every cut is logged with its reason, so anyone can retrace the path.

We sort the remaining studies by what they found, and lean on the strongest existing review that already combined them all — sturdier than any single study.

We rate how much confidence the evidence deserves — from high down to very low — based on how solid the studies and the synthesis were.
